Dating Site Mechanisms
Introduction Dating Site Mechanisms
Dating sites have many methods at their disposal for helping people deal with the task of choosing interesting people in order to converse with. Most recently, the survey method has been touted as a way for compatible people to find each other because of the way they answer standardized questions. In spite of this however, many dating sites have methods they use aside from dating site surveys and one of those methods that is worth particular note would have to be the contextual suggestion method.
How it Works
The contextual suggestion method was basically the first special thing to be instituted in many of the new online dating sites that came out a few years ago and up until the advent of the survey it was easily the most popular one as well. The contextual suggestion method relies on helping a person find people that they might be interested in based on the information that is included in their profile. After the profile has been completed and before the browsing process has actually begun, the server scans the profile just completed and through a process of comparison with other profiles, it ends up returning some preliminary results to get a person started.
The Advantage
The main advantage of the contextual suggestions is that they are often quite quick to deal with. All you have to do is fill out your profile to a minimum and then based on the information that you include, you get the results returned to you. Even if you only fill in basic information about yourself, that information can be used as a way of narrowing down the people that you are returned. Things like income level, industry and previous romantic history are all things that could be used in this way and therefore you don’t really have to enter a whole lot of information in order to get some results out of the system.
The Disadvantage
The main disadvantage of this particular method is the double-edged nature of the advantage. Even though a minimum of information can return results, they might not be particularly compatible results. The contextual suggestion method works better if you give more information and for that reason finding really good matches can still end up being a time consuming process. It all depends on how lucky you get and it is really that factor of luck versus the knowledge that other processes take more time to finish that gets people interested in utilizing this particular method.
The Bottom Line
This method really does have the ability to work and as previously mentioned it is a method that is served better by having more information. One positive point about this method is that you can always do it in stages, adding more information to your profile if the contextual results you got from the previous level of detail were not particularly satisfying to you. This level of control is not there with surveys and that is why some people still prefer this particular method.
