The Dating Profile

The Dating Profile is the Window to the Soul

Your dating profile is the window to your soul.  It is also a window that should remain completely open with honesty… well a white lie won’t hurt will it?  What could fibbing about your weight possibly harm or your age for that matter?  It all depends on what you are really looking for from the dating site.  If you are looking for a fling with someone that you are not planning on caring too much about, then you won’t mind very much if they don’t trust you because you were untruthful with your statistics.  However, if you are looking for a committed relationship then it should start with honesty and trust.

Before you write that you are 5’10” when you are really 5’6” consider if you would be ok if someone fibbed in the same way.  Would you forgive four inches in description… in height.  These kind of specific statistics make a difference for a lot of people.  Perhaps she is 6’8” and only wants to date men that are her height.  If you go out with her there will be an obvious difference if you said you are 6’8” but are only 6’.  Makes sense right?

Some people may get really upset with this kind of deception so be careful.  Many could see it as you wasting their time and they may not be very kind in their reaction.  Consider the white lies that you tell on your online dating site profile because they could mean some serious trouble later on.  Especially is you say you know how to speak French fluently and they want you to talk to their friend that is calling from France.  At that point you either need to fess up or start speaking French.
